FCET EKIADOLOR PROVOST PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, NIGERIAN INSTITUTE FOR OIL PALM RESEARCH

Benin City – July 25, 2026

The Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Ekiadolor, Dr. Lawrence A. Osagiede, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), Dr. Leonard Isona Gold, at his office along the Benin-Akure Road, Edo State.

The Provost arrived in the company of a delegation drawn from the college's management team, including the Chairman of the Students' Drive and Enrolment Committee, Dr. Friday Omonuwa; the Dean of Deans, Mr. Isaac Idada; the Dean, School of General Education; the Director of Academic Planning, Mr. Seyi Adaja; the Dean, School of Vocational Education, Dr. Akenbor; the Dean, School of Secondary Education Sciences, Dr. Princewill Aigbe; the Dean, School of Technical Education, Dr. Arimonu Maxwell; and Comrade Omoruyi Kennedy, Secretary to the Students' Drive and Enrolment Committee. Staff of the Information and Public Relations Unit were also in attendance.

The Provost and his team were received by the Executive Director, Dr. Gold, who gave a brief history of the facility.

Speaking on the purpose of the visit, Dr. Osagiede explained that the visit was part of efforts to familiarise himself with key stakeholders and organisations within the college community following his assumption of office on March 17, 2026.

He expressed the college's desire to explore collaboration with the institute, particularly on how such a partnership could strengthen teaching and learning in the Department of Agriculture. The Provost also used the occasion to highlight ongoing enrolment opportunities at the college, noting that FCETE now runs part-time programmes designed to accommodate working-class students and awards the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree to successful candidates. He urged the Director to encourage junior staff members to take advantage of the programme to advance their qualifications while still on the job.

In response, the Executive Director, Dr. Gold, assured the Provost that the institute remains open to collaboration with FCETE and would continue to play its role as a centre for producing experts and specialists in the agricultural sector. He thanked the Provost and his entourage for the visit despite their busy schedule.

The vote of thanks was given by Comrade Omoruyi Kennedy, who appreciated the Executive Director for accommodating the delegation despite the short notice.
